How Gamification Affects Employee Engagement.
If you have a company, unless you are planning to be working alone, you need to make sure that you have employees who are dedicates to seeing the company move forward. However, you have a great role to play in this case by making sure that the employees are motivated. Companies that value their employees ensure that they offer motivation and provide engagement opportunities to make them feel valued.
Gamification is a tried and tested method to make sure that employees are well motivated. If you are looking at it as a way to use the competitiveness of the employees to give you better results then you do not have a good understanding of what the process is all about because it is meant to awaken the intrinsic drives of each one of them so that they will be motivated to rise above their average standards. Through scholarly work on this area, it has been realized that points, badges or even leaderboards are not enough to appeal to the desire to achieve more to the employees.
When you are giving your employees badges or other kinds of material things as a way of motivation them to do better, you will not get efficient results because this is not a sustainable method which is why you need to utilize different tactics. Games give the competition meaning, promotes autonomy amongst the competitors as well as a sense of accomplishment once they do well in the game. Also, they will be super engaged because it seems like more fun and not just work.
When you do not have a culture in your organization, it is not going to have a direction but remember that not everything you pull up to the employees is going to be accepted with open arms but if you make it seem like a game, they will adopt it even before they know what is going on. Learn that communication and management of performance are other areas where you can depend on gamification to help you out. Through gamification, you will be able to collect data all the time and automatically which helps you remain objective.
Objective data means a lot of managers. With gamification, there will be no need for managers to spend a lot of time going through reports in order to decide on their next move. Consequently, the employees will be provided with information about how well they are doing and the areas they need to improve on so that they can be acting based on facts.
